  • Jessica Hunter, DVM

    Veterinarian, Owner & Medical Director

Dr. Jessica Hunter grew up in Tucson, Arizona, surrounded by animals of all kinds. Her mother was the curator of education at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and her  job had her bringing in all sorts of animals to the house: javelinas, kestrel falcons, snakes, tarantulas, tortoises.  Dr. Hunter grew up with a menagerie of pets including dogs, cats, a pony, fish, tadpoles, snakes, newts, rats, guinea pigs, even a skunk.  Because of this affection for all types of animals, Dr. Hunter says, "The general opinion in the household was that being a veterinarian was about the most noble profession one could aspire to."

Dr. Hunter earned a bachelor of science in geology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1998. Prior to attending veterinary school, she worked at San Francisco Veterinary Specialists and at Southern Arizona Veterinary Specialty Center in Tucson. She was also an environmental consultant. She earned her doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 2008 from the University of California, Davis. She joined San Francisco Pet Hospital in 2009 and practiced there until September 2021 when she became an owner and Medical Director of Mill Valley Pet Clinic.

Dr. Hunter says, "I love having a profession that allows me to connect with people on a topic that is deeply close to their hearts, while also allowing me to exercise the intellectual aspects of practicing medicine."
